March 16th, 2013 - Bub McCool carried his recent momentum into battle on Saturday night as he entered the season opener for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Model tour at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi). While McCool's main intent for the $2,500-to-win event was to get track time for the upcoming World of Outlaws event at the 1/3 mile oval, he would accomplish another goal by claiming the feature win!

Thirty Super Late Models filled the pit area for the event, and after setting fast time in his group and overall he locked into the pole sitter's dash. A win in the dash earned him the pole for the 50 lap feature with Ronny Lee Hollingsworth joining him on the front row. As the race went green Hollingsworth jumped to the lead with McCool in tow. A few laps later McCool bolted into the top spot and never looked back on his way to his second win of the 2013 campaign. He was followed across the line by Chris Wall, BJ Robinson, Chad Thrash, and Brian Rickman. Full results are available at

March 9th, 2013 - After finishing second two years in a row Bub McCool finally claimed his first Pelican 100 victory on Saturday night in the third running of the event.

The $10,000-to-win, unsanctioned event attracted forty-seven Super Late Models to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). McCool started his weekend by registering a lap of 14.234 seconds around the oval to earn top qualifier honors. Heat race action found him out-dueling Terry Phillips to score the win, which locked him into the pole for Saturday night's 100 lap finale.

While McCool led a majority of the feature the win was far from easy as he had to fend off Chris Wall early in the event before battling Don O'Neal during the race's mid-stages. Late in the event Bub began to battle mechanical issues as Billy Moyer moved into challenge for the top spot. McCool held on to score the win over Moyer, Phillips, O'Neal, and Wall.
